A pioneer of the Civil Rights movement, Rosa Parks, died Monday, Oct. 24 at the age of 92. Parks helped spark the movement in 1955 when she refused to give up her seat in the front of a bus after a long day of work. She was tired, not only after a day of hard work, but also of the treatment (racism, segregation) she and other black people were receiving at that time, and made a stand.

In the winter of 1955, a seamstress by the name of Rosa Parks sat down on a Montgomery, Ala., bus and refused to give up her seat to a white man.

Rosa Parks was a vigilante. . . No, she wasn't. I think both violent and non violent vigilantism has its place and time. Not a surprising statement for an admitted violent vigilante.
